BATTLE OF THE BOSQUE DAY 1 RESULTS

GAME 1: CHIPOLA 2 vs ODESSA 0

Chipola Lady Indians defeated #6 Odessa College 2-0 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at zero in the top of the seventh when Rabasco doubled, scoring two runs.

Grantham threw seven innings innings on the way to a shutout. The righty struck out 5.

Rabasco set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Chipola Lady Indians with three hits in four at bats. Keyla Arce, EmmaLee Essary, Amarii Spires, Izabella Marques and Kamryn Eaton all collected one hit in the game. Chipola Lady Indians turned one double play in the game.

GAME 2: CHIPOLA 7 vs MCLENNAN 8

Chipola Lady Indians's effort to come back from down six runs in the fourth inning came up just short, as they fell 8-7 to McLennan. Chipola Lady Indians closed the gap by scoring on a double, a ground out, an error, and a fly out. Chipola Lady Indians got on the board in the top of the third inning after Essary singled down the right field line, and Spires walked, each scoring one run.

McLennan tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a triple by Smitherman, and a single by Fechner. McLennan Highlanders flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 8-2.

Chipola Lady Indians scored five runs on four hits in the top of the seventh inning. Rodgers doubled, scoring two runs, Essary grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Morris scored after tagging up.

Rodgers and Flowers were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Chipola Lady Indians while hitting back-to-back. Rodgers and Essary were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Chipola Lady Indians.
