#13 Chipola Edges #18 Pensacola State 68–66 in Ranked Road Battle
PENSACOLA, Fla. — The 13th-ranked Chipola College men's basketball team picked up a statement road win Wednesday night, defeating No. 18 Pensacola State College 68–66 in a tightly contested matchup between two nationally ranked programs.
Chipola leaned on a balanced effort and timely shot-making to secure the victory in a game that featured multiple lead changes and strong defensive play from both sides.
DJ Kent delivered a standout performance for the Indians, recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring Chipola's presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. Yann Aphely was also active on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds to help limit Pensacola State's second-chance opportunities.
From the perimeter, Chipola found its rhythm behind the arc. Freshman trio Peyton Wiggins (13), Lyrique Sartin (11), and Bryson Berry (11) each finished with double-digit points, combining to knock down 10 three-pointers to stretch the defense and provide crucial scoring throughout the night. Their shooting proved pivotal in keeping Chipola in front during key stretches of the game.
Demarco Middleton added 11 points and three assists, providing steady leadership and playmaking as the Indians executed down the stretch to close out the two-point win. Aaron Richard was a huge contribution with 4 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Both teams traded baskets late in the second half, but Chipola's composure, rebounding, and perimeter shooting allowed the Indians to make the necessary plays in the final minutes to escape with the victory.
With the win, Chipola improves its résumé with a road victory over a ranked opponent as conference play continues.
