Chipola Indians 2026 Sweep East Mississippi CC in Doubleheader
The Chipola Indians 2026 turned in an impressive Saturday performance, sweeping East Mississippi CC in a pair of high-scoring games to complete a dominant doubleheader.
Game One: Chipola 12, East Mississippi 2
Chipola jumped out early and never looked back in the opener, rolling to a 12-2 victory. After East Mississippi scored first in the top of the opening inning, Chipola answered immediately with a four-run bottom half highlighted by RBI singles from Colin Guerra and Nick Croce, along with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Kane Moye.
The Indians extended their lead in the third when Nick Croce drove in another run and Hudson Gilman ripped a two-run double. Kane Moye added to the advantage in the fourth with a two-run home run to right field, and Derek Gonzalez capped the scoring with a solo homer in the sixth.
On the mound, Michal Kovala earned the win, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four over three innings. Clinton Harris was sharp in relief, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
Offensively, Nick Croce and Kane Moye each drove in three runs, while Nick Croce, Kane Moye, Hudson Gilman, and Michal Sindelka recorded multi-hit performances. Chipola also showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks in the win.
Game Two: Chipola 12, East Mississippi 11
The nightcap was a back-and-forth battle, but Chipola once again came out on top with a 12-11 victory. Nick Croce led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two singles.
East Mississippi grabbed an early lead with a first-inning homer, but Chipola responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame. After East Mississippi surged ahead 6-3 in the second, Chipola stayed within striking distance thanks to a solo home run from Nick Croce and an RBI single from Seven Alemais in the third.
The decisive moment came in the fifth inning when Chipola erupted for six runs to take a 12-7 lead, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues.
Joey Ervin picked up the win in relief, striking out six over 3 1/3 innings while allowing just one run. Andrew Hammock earned the save after closing out the final frames. Vladil Baldepina also appeared in relief.
At the plate, Tyler Correa delivered a perfect 4-for-4 performance and drove in four runs, while Nick Croce and Jeremiah Gary also posted multi-hit games
