The Lady Indians advance in the NJCAA National Championship after a 7-3 win over Temple College.
Chipola scored three in the top of the first to take an early lead.
Candela Figueroa had a single to right field and was able to score on a wild pitch after stealing second and third base. Haley Sandridge walked to first and was brought home by Eila Infante's single and a defensive error. Infante was brought home by Mikayla Lewin as she blasted a double to the center field fence. The Leopards were able to record three strikeouts to end the Chipola run and the Lady Indians took a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the first.
In the bottom of the inning, Temple was able to get two runs back, making the score 3-2 Chipola entering the second.
In the top of the third, Sydney Mclain picked up an RBI single to score Ally Clegg. Figueroa also hit a single to bring home Jadia Jones to extend Chipola's lead to 5-2.
The score remained 5-2 in favor of Chipola until the top of the fifth when Chipola added on two more. Amy Woodham brought home Ally Clegg with a double to center field and Mclain brought home Woodham to give the Lady Indians a 7-2 lead.
The Leopards scored one in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh, the Lady Indians were unable to add to their lead. In the bottom of the inning, Temple had two on base, but Brianna Bailey struck out the batter for the third out and to end the game.
Figueroa had three hits and one RBI. Infante had two hits and one RBI. Lewin had two hits and one RBI, Mclain had one hit and one RBI and Scala had one hit.
Chipola advances to face Central Florida on Friday at noon MST/1PM CST.
