The Lady Indians beat Central Florida 15-2 in five innings in today's game in Utah.
Chipola started the game strong, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. Lauren Finch had a three-run homer and two more runs scored on a walk and hit-by-pitch.
In the bottom of the inning, Central Florida had a solo home run to make the score 5-1 heading into the second.
In the second inning, Chipola is unable to add to their lead and Central Florida scored one run in the bottom of the inning.
Ally Clegg and Candela Figueroa both hit bombs in the top of the third inning, adding three runs to Chipola's lead.
In the bottom of the inning, Central Florida had two on base when Amy Woodham struck out two and Clegg caught a line drive for the third out.
At the top of the fourth, Yoshie Omori hit a grand slam to extend Chipola's lead to 12-2. In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Indians' defense turned a beautiful double play to record the first two outs and Sandridge secured the third one.
In the fifth, Chipola added on three more runs. Eila Infante brought home Candela Figueroa and Mikayla Lewin scored two more with her base hit to center field.
The Lady Patriots were unable to answer in the bottom of the fifth, which gave Chipola the 15-2 win via the run rule.
In the circle, Amy Woodham went all five innings. She had three strikeouts and allowed four hits.
At the plate, Omori had a grand slam and four RBIs. Figueroa had three runs, two hits, and three RBIs. Finch had one run, one home run, and three RBIs. Lewin had two runs, two hits, and two RBIs. Clegg had three runs, one hit, and one RBI. Infante had one run, two hits, and one RBI. Scala had one RBI.
