The Lady Indians defeated Angelina College this evening 18-1 in five innings to advance to the championship game.
Angelina was first on the board as they brought one home in the top of the first inning. However, Chipola answered in the bottom of the inning scoring three of their own. Eila Infante brought Candela Figueroa home for the first run, Lauren Finch's double was able to score Infante, and Mikayla Lewin brought home Finch.
The Lady Indians had a 3-1 lead after the first inning.
Chipola's defense was able to hold Angelina in the second and then came up big on the offensive side, adding six runs. Infante, Haley Sandridge, and Tammie Lijbers were all responsible for RBIs in the inning.
Chipola carried their momentum into the third inning as the defense held Angelina and their bats stayed hot. The Lady Indians recorded nine runs on eight hits in the bottom of the third, making the score 18-1 heading into the fourth.
The fourth inning brought no runs for either team, leaving the score 18-1 in favor of Chipola.
The Lady Indians defense held Angelina scoreless again in the top of the 5th inning, ending the game 18-1 via run rule.
Chipola outscored their opponents 33-3 in today's contests and advance to the championship game for the fourth time in five years, which will take place tomorrow at noon MST/1:00 p.m. CST. Opponent to be determined.
