Indians Clinch Spot in Region VIII Tournament

The Indians beat Pensacola State 87-82 tonight and clinched second place in the Panhandle Conference, earning them a spot in the NJCAA Region VIII tournament. 

Keishawn Brewton led the team with 25 points. Malik Zachery had 19 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists. Daniel Oladapo recorded another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Bitumba Baruti scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. LaQuan Butler dished out five assists. 

"I'm really proud that we officially clinched a spot in the Region VIII tournament tonight," said Coach Brendan Foley. "We knew this game wasn't going to be easy because Pensacola is an extremely tough team. We had some guys step up and make some big plays and found a way to win."

Chipola will finish their regular season on Saturday at Gulf Coast State at 4:00 p.m. CST. 

The Region VIII tournament will take place in Ocala, Florida on March 6-9. Chipola's first game will be Thursday, March 7 at 6:00 p.m. EST. Click here for a full bracket:
