Chipola College Indians Varsity defeated Miami Dade 2-0 in game one at the NJCAA Region VIII/FCSAA State Tournament.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Chipola College Indians Varsity pitchers struck out 15, while Miami Dade pitchers sat down ten.
A single by Crisostomo-Bock in the first inning was a positive for Miami Dade.
Andrew Moore took the win for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Baker threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Baker recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Chipola College Indians Varsity.
Figueroa-Hidalgo was on the mound for Miami Dade. He allowed two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five. Ogando-Martinez, Marcano-Sanchez, and Ribalta each contributed in relief for Miami Dade.
Corey Rosier went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Chipola College Indians Varsity in hits. Chipola College Indians Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Alex Arauz made the most plays with 15. Rosier led Chipola College Indians Varsity with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
Miami Dade didn't commit a single error in the field. Martinez had the most chances in the field with ten.
The Indians move on to play Santa Fe on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. CST.
