Indians Hang On to Beat Santa Fe at State Tournament

Chipola hangs on to beat Santa Fe 8-7 in tonight's game in Lakeland. 

The Indians got out to a six-run lead in the third inning and held on to the victory. Santa Fe tallied six runs in the failed comeback. MarquisWestbrookJones, and Marquis fueled the rally with RBIs.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Chipola College Indians Varsitycollected 14 hits and Santa Fe had eight.

Chipola College Indians Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning. Cameron Gray singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Parker Pillsbury led the Chipola College Indians Varsity to victory on the pitcher's mound. He allowed two hits and four runs over five innings, striking out nine. Michael Cullen and Jake Smith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Arguelles toed the rubber for Santa Fe. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over two and a third innings, striking out three. Walton threw six innings out of the bullpen.

Chipola College Indians Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Alex Arauz went yard in the third inning.

Chipola College Indians Varsity tallied 14 hits. GrayArauzCorey RosierConnor Kehl, and Julio Carrion each had multiple hits for Chipola College Indians VarsityArauz and Gray all had three hits to lead Chipola College Indians VarsityChipola College Indians Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Arauz had the most chances in the field with 12.

Santa Fe saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Marquis and Edge all had multiple hits for Santa Fe. Marquis went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Santa Fe in hits.

Chipola will now face Northwest Florida State tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. CST.
