Chipola Bests Pensacola 6-4

Chipola Indians (26-4, 7-0) took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Pensacola State on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Chipola Indians batting in the top of the sixth when Trey Dawson homered off of Luke Dykes, driving in three runs.

Pensacola State captured the lead in the first inning.  Willie Carter doubled on a 0-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

Chipola Indians knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning.  Chipola scored one run when Jacob Silverstein singled with two outs in the fourth inning.

Ryan Shauger (4-1) earned the win. He threw five and a third innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, striking out five, and walking one.  Andrew Grogan threw one inning, as four relievers helped Chipola Indians finish off the victory.  Bowden Francis recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Chipola Indians.

Home runs for Chipola came when Jose Caballero homered in the third inning and Trey Dawson homered in the sixth inning.

Chipola Indians collected 11 hits.  Max GuzmanEdmond Americaan, and Andrew Bechtold each collected multiple hits.
