Big Innings Lead to 9-1 Win


Ft. Myers, FL - A six-run explosion in the sixth inning hoisted the Chipola Indians (3-0) to a 9-1 win over Broward College at City of Palms Stadium - Ft. Myers, FL on Sunday.

The Chipola Indians scored in the sixth on an error, a two-run single by Jacob Silverstein (SO / Seminole, FL), and a three-run home run by Jose Caballero (SO / Panama City, Panama).

Caballero racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Chipola Indians.

Freshman Parker Warren (Enterprise, AL) made his collegiate debut. He went 3 innings, surrendering one hit on 52 pitches. Roberto Negron (SO / Toa Alta, PR) got the win for the Indians. He relieved Warren, throwing 2.2 innings while giving up 0 runs on 1hit. Andrew Grogan (FR / Cumming, GA) relieved Negron. Broward managed just one hit off of the the Chipola Indians' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work. Riley Cabral came in for one inning of work and closed the ninth.

The game's last lead went to the Indians for good thanks to a fourth-inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on a wild pitch, an RBI double by Brody Wofford, and a sacrifice fly by Trey Dawson.

The Indians are back in action on Feb 3 as they play host to Walter's State and San Jacinto during Baseball's Alumni Weekend.
