Chipola softball played at Frank Brown Park in Panama City, Florida this weekend. The Lady Indians won 2 games on Saturday with one loss, and split a pair of games on Sunday.
On Saturday the Inidans beat Southeast CC 4-1. Andrea Sullivan led the offense with 2 hits, with one being a 3 run homerun. The winning pitcher was Brittany Black throwing a complete game
Chipola followed up the win with another against NJCAA # 7 Chattanooga State 11-4. Ariell Van Hook, Michelle Hewett, and Trish Bliss each had 2 hits. Van Hook and Bliss each had 3 run homeruns. Winning pitcher was Skylar Davis throwing 4 innings and Heather McAfee closing the game with 3 scoreless innings.
In the third game of the day the Lady Indians bats went silent and loss to St Pete 4-1. St. Pete held the Indians to only 5 hits, 5 hits lower than their season average per game. Emma Stevenson took the loss.
On Sunday the Lady Indians pouded out 14 hits, 13 runs, and 2 homeruns to pass Hillsborough 13-6. Winning pitcher Heather McAfee.
In the second game, Chipola took on NJCAA #2 Wallace State-Hanceville. Final score was 3-2 Hanceville but Chipola made some noise in the 7th inning. Trailing 3-0 in the top of the seventh, Chipola came out fighting. After a walk by Nicole Roddy, Brittany Black hit a 2 run homerun to right field to make it 3-2. Next batter Hannah Lovestrand, singled to right to give the Indians the tying run on base. A stolen base and sacrifice moved Lovestrand to third with 1 out. Hewett flyed out to shallow left and Dana Cauthen grounded out to the shortstop to end the game.
Chipola will host NJCAA #8 Darton College on Saturday March 6. Game times will be 1:00 and 3:00.
