The Chipola softball team travelled to Aiken, SC to play in the Aiken Mizuno Invitational. In the 1st game against Gadsen State, Chipola pounded out 13 hits and scored in every inning to end the game in 5 innings due to the 8 run mercy rule.
Emma Stevenson pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 hits and 9 strikeouts. The Lady Indians raise their record to 12-3. In the second game of the day, the Lady Indians kept their hot hitting going against Alabama Southern. It started out slow but in the 3rd inning the Lady indians scored 7 runs. Chipola followed up with 2 runs in the 4th and 1 run in the bottom of the 5th to once again end the game by mercy rule. Chipola racked up 14 hits for a final score 10-2. The winning pitcher was Skylar Davis. For the third game of the day, Chipola took on Georgia Military. Chipola came out hot to score 3 runs in the first but gave up 2 in the bottom of the inning. With no runs being scored in the 2nd inning by either team, the Lady Indians scored 12 runs over the next four innings to end another game by the mercy rule. Chipola had 15 hits and a final score of 15-4. The winning pitcher was Brittany Black.
On the day Chipola had 42 hits, 33 runs, 18 stolen bases, and only given up 4 earned runs. Over the last five games the Lady Indians have totaled 70 hits and winning all by the mercy rule. This runs the Lady Indians win streak to 13, an a overall record of 14-3. The Lady Indians will play again Saturday in Aiken, with game times of 9:00 am cst, 11:00 am cst and another game depending on seeding in the bracket.
