Lady Indians getting "back to roots" in 2012 |

In 2011, the Chipola Lady Indians had one of the best regular seasons in school history, rolling to 46 victories, a 13-3 Panhandle Conference record and a league title, and smashing a school record for home runs with 59 home runs – including 35 combined from sophomore sluggers Andrea Sullivan and Ariel Van Hook.
However, the momentum stopped when the state tournament arrived, and just two games into the postseason, the Lady Indians were heading back home after a pair of one run losses to Hillsborough and State College of Florida in which they scored just three runs total. |

The 2011 season was an undisputed success for the Chipola Indians and coach Jeff Johnson, who won Panhandle Conference and state titles, and made a return trip to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
To get back to Grand Junction in 2012, the Indians will rely on a solid nucleus of returning players – including three sophomore pitchers – and an unusual amount of experience thanks to a large crop of Division-I transfers.

The No. 7 Chipola Indians suffered a second consecutive defeat Wednesday night in Pensacola, falling to the No. 15 Pirates 45-42.
The loss drops the Indians to 17-3 overall and 1-2 in Panhandle Conference play, while Pensacola State improved to 18-3 and 2-1 in the league. |

For the second straight game, the No. 4 Chipola Indians will try to beat a nationally-ranked Panhandle Conference opponent without likely their two leading scorers when they travel to Pensacola on Wednesday night to take on the No. 14 Pirates (17-3, 1-1 in conference).
Chipola (17-2, 1-1) last played on Jan. 10 at home against the No. 1 Northwest Florida State Raiders and lost 69-58 with leading scorers and starting post players Joseph Uchebo and Jason Carter both sidelined with knee injuries. |
